Based on the three choices, I suggest Vancouver.

I still don't see the objection to the UK (Dauphin, slap!)...don't knock it until you've tried it.

Sorry, can't let that jab go.

My dislike for TO has nothing to do with envy and everything to do with it being a ****ty place to live. I know, I have lived there. Have you?

It has the largest immigrant population if that tells you anything.

Yes, compared to Calcutta it is a pretty decent place. Immigrants find it preferable to where they came from.

My daughter is currently living in Boston without a car and she has had a positive experience. As always it depends on what part of the city you live in. NY has decent MASS transit and has nice areas to live in and not so nice areas. Chicago is the same. But most of the cities listed in this thread get COLD in the winter. While you may be used to the cold, I'd still recommend someplace in the south where it's WARM. A place like Atlanta, where even thought the MASS transit isn't as good, at least you won't freeze while you're walking.

Especially when compared with wanting to live in the US!

Boston is probably my overall favourite US city from the ones I've visited and definitely liveable.

New Orleans was my other favourite city - but purely as a visitor! I would imagine it to be pretty ****ty to live there. I suppose if you could afford to cocoon yourself in the Garden District, it wouldn't be so bad - it's also considered 'high ground' by Nawlins standards...

Start in NYC. Then visit a bunch of other cities and find one you like. NYC does have very low crime for a big city and great public transport, relative to the rest of the U.S.

Okay, where's my avatar from? London's no better than Moscow, except you have to live in a bloody townhome (if you can afford one) with **** for heating and a ****ing litterbox-sized front garden. Why do Brits love these gardens so much? Even people living on a bloody boat in that canal between Camden and Regent's Park have two flower pots next to their mooring.

It's bloody cold here this week and it's not ****ing funny. I'm seriously thinking of putting on long underwear to get to the subway without freezing my balls off. It can't be that cold in the NYC or Vancouver, they're both seaside cities far to the south of Moscow.

Not after they shut down all the bus lines.

So you've experienced London...there are many other places in the country and London really isn't representative of it either. And you've probably only visited the touristy areas of it.

Yes, London, because everything else is a village. Touristy places and Brixton, to be honest.

Well of course they aren't going to be as big as London...but that is often a benefit...
