      • It took me an embarrassingly long time to get that. The, uh, phenomenon is several years old at this point, no?

But how does this reflect or comment on the recent Wikileaks case? Or the U.S.-Britain relationship? All I know about this song is that it was used for...aahh, ****, the joke's on me. Hurr hurr hurr."

                    • Another blow to WikiLeaks.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Bank of America Corp said on Saturday it will not process payments intended for WikiLeaks, which has angered U.S. authorities with the mass release of U.S. diplomatic cables.

The largest U.S. bank by assets joins a growing group of financial services companies, including MasterCard, PayPal and Visa Europe, that are restricting payments to the global organization which has said its next large document release will be bank information.

"This decision is based upon our reasonable belief that WikiLeaks may be engaged in activities that are, among other things, inconsistent with our internal policies for processing payments," the bank said in a statement obtained by Reuters.

                      • Assange hit out at Swedish handling of the case, accusing authorities there of leaking fresh details about the case that even he and his defence lawyers have not had access to.

how ironic, he's complaining about leaks

                        • Wow, a correct use by an American of the word "ironic"!?!?

But, it is superficial - how is leaking details of his case whistleblowing or otherwise serve a public greater good?

                          • How is assanges' publishing low level data (its not intel and it's only secret) "whistleblowing" or "serving a public greater good"? I agree that we need to monitor our governments, "the price of freedom is vigilance". Assange, however, is merely a deluded narcissist who has endangered (relatively) innocent civilians by broadcasting their names in connection with the americans in countries where that knowledge can be a death sentence. None of the data published so far has been damaging to the USA or her allies, it's too trivial.

                            • You'd think if Sweden had any actual evidence they would lay a charge already. If they are relying on statements from the accused to put their case together it must be a pretty weak case.

A purported raison d’être of the wikileak site is whistleblowing. Whether it is or isn't is a matter of debate and may or may not be decided in law.

My personal view is that he has done a hack job and what he is doing is inefficient and possibly counterproductive, but it's still very different to any motivations people have to discredit him.
