          • CT did its part in keeping its US reps & senator D. The big ? is Governor. It's really close (though I think Foley will hang on). Whoever was in charge of procuring ballots for the city of Bridgeport should be fired. Ridiculous.

My state senator (D) held on, barely. I voted against her, but to no avail. State rep was an R already and kept her seat easily. The state legislature will still be heavily Dem. For that reason, I won't be upset if we have another Republican governor. We've had lots of 'em, and Folely does not appear to be a kook.

                  Damn, result is now 60.

Senate is a bit better 51-46 with three not yet called. Reid pulled it out though.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                      • Now the SecState (Dem) is calling Malloy the winner. GOP will cry foul, obviously. It's so close an automatic recount may be triggered. Beyond that, stupid **** went down in Bport. 21k ballots for 69k voters. Sure, you don't plan on 100% turnout, but damn. That's the root cause. Then you have the frantic attempts to correct the problem - making copies and then keeping polling places open past 8 via a rush-rush judge's order. That will all be challeged by the GOP.

Heckuva job, Bridgeport (hilariously, the Dem registrar of voters is claiming she did everything right. Awesome). What could have been an uncontroversial, though close, win for Malloy will now be considered shady by half the electorate. Great.

                        • Well, I called the Senate right at 53 though low turn out (and probably gerrymandering of districts) added up to make me wrong in the house. How wrong remains to be seen though it seems there is still a possibility DanS might have been over optamistic there just like he was wrong (and I was right) about the Senate.

The wave seems to have broke against the Rockies, as the Pacific states stayed blue. Even picked up the HI and CA governorships. We're pretty pleased here in Oregon, since they just called the tight governor's race for Kitzhaber, Wyden cruised and the congressional delegations remained unchanged. The Democrats even maintained control of the State Senate, although it appears the House might be split down the middle. And Murray is beating perennial loser Dino Rossi next door in WA, which is always enjoyable.

The bloodbath was pretty much concentrated in Florida and the Rust Belt, plus some of the South. An interesting note is that the House Blue Dog caucus was decimated, losing 25+ of their members, while the Progressive caucus only lost 4. That plus losing bad Senate Democrats like Blanche Lincoln and Evan Bayh adds a bit of a silver lining.

And what was up with the Maryland GOP renominating a turd like Erlich? They couldn't find *anybody* else? They had to renominate the guy who got drubbed in the last election because he was one of the most unpopular governors they've ever had? Holy ****, they might have been better off running Ellen Sauerbrey again.
