My gut reaction to the device is that it seems icky to design something specifically to drive away children as if they were vermin. So I guess I'm with you.

Thanks! And good news! What station? Did they mention NYRA by name?

A significant minority of children in the valleys are vermin - why do you think it's a Welsh invention?

This is my favourite product: Playing classic music outside shops and shopping centres to discourage teenagers is a techniques that has been used for sometime with moderate effect.

Some might say that playing classical music to teenagers is a far worse punishment than the mosquito...

btw, even the French are interested in our victory:

Un appareil répulsif "Mosquito", jugé discriminatoire, retiré à Washington

              AFP

              08 octobre 2010

Sadly, French reporters don't understand the difference between "loitering" and "littering"...

You're Canadian, you should be conversant in the language.

I'm saddened by the fact that they don't say that it's a Welsh invention, just that it's notably used in the UK...

Only Qwebekers and furriners speak that rubbish.

Be happy that folks aren't blaming you (yet). It cuts the odds of your silly nation stopping a nuke or two.

Ben, you wouldn't have ever been able to hear it anyway. Remember, you don't get to hear the frequency that angels speak in.

Same with the delightful Vuvuzelas. Their use should not only be encouraged but mandated in every stadium. They add considerable ambience and excitement.

Its hard to believe that they even have stuff like this set up. Classical music is however different since many people like it.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila
