Whatever happened to "When in Rome be Roman", and being a kind guest and respecting the customs of the place? You see western journalists go to ****hole muslim countries all of the time dressing "modestly" (enforcing the womenherding policy of the place).

TBQH, I have no real problem with veils. The saddening part is that the vast majority of these women were indoctrinated into this **** from age 0. If this is Islam, you are dumb not to be Islamophobic.

It's amazing. We don't even have this debate in this country... your religious customs are your own business and as long as no one is being hurt by it, no law can prohibit what you do. If a woman wants to wear it, who the **** gives a damn? Let them.

Can anyone from a country of the free (besides Oerdin who has issues) find any justification for this?

        1. Some yankees. It's a very contentious debate.
        2. At least it isn't illegal

          3. It's about a specific building and its proximity to a specific site... not a nation-wide ban.

Don't even try to claim religious freedom because there is nothing in the Koran about the Darth Vader outfits and instead it just calls on women to dress modestly. The burka is just an oppressive local cultural tradition and 1st worlders have every right to say they don't want such backwards and barbaric practices in their country.
            This is ridiculous.

The US is a nation largely built of people who fled something, whether it was poverty or war or oppression. Given that, I find it unbelievably arrogant of you to presume that anyone should have to conform to American culture or stay out. Chances are somebody said something similar to one of your ancestors and that's why they came here.

But not exactly a cristian building. Somehow I thought that religion doesn't matter in yankystan. Even a person that won't say "I belive in god" can be president.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

When Oerdin says stuff like that, there's no point in arguing with him. Deep down, I know Oerdin knows what he's saying is wrong but experiences have made him very anti-Islamic. I think he should talk to a counselor but hopefully time will heal him and make him realize the errors in his ways.

The whole mosque thing is really just political grandstanding.

I really hope that your brother spanks you serious - that is a real big pile of BS.

So what ? It was just a building that was destroyed and it is being rebuild.

Ehrm, that isn't any longer the question discussed, so why do you bring it up ?

So what is the question? Is America less or as prejudiced as France?
