In what way are the situations dissimilar Guy? Other than the fact the president saw his way to commenting on the wisdom of this situation of course.

This whole thing is pissing me off. America is far more tolerant and open toward Muslims than most of Europe and MUCH more tolerant and open than Muslim countries are to minorities in their nations, yet people are giving wall to wall coverage of this lone nutjob (who even nutjobs like Sarah Palin oppose) and somehow people get the idea that America is a profoundly intolerant, oppressive nation toward Muslims. It just isn't the case.
Yet at the same time when someone burns a Bible in Saudi Arabia, no one gives a damn.

yes, they should move them to a country tolerant and open towards Muslims, where a quarter of the population believes they have a muslim PresidentSocrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good." Brian: "Romanes eunt domus"

I do get your larger point, and I do agree with it. By and large, Muslims are far better off in the US than in large portions of Europe (not to mention the Middle East), and if the media would just ignore these complete *********, they'd never get any oxygen, and we'd all be better off both here and abroad."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Has anyone here, or with any stature in public, said that Reverend Dumbass McHickerton shouldn't be allowed to burn the Koran? If so, I haven't heard it.

As much as I'd like to believe that if the media ignored these wackos there wouldn't be an issue, the internet can give wackos new life. And as soon as the foreign press picks it up, the damage is done. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

How the **** is a group building a community center for themselves "similar" to another group engaging in a burning of some other group's holy book with the sole intent of pissing them off?
Calling these things "similar" is disgusting. In fact, it's pure bigotry. DD, you need to stop swallowing the crazy pills from right-wing radio.Tutto nel mondo è burla
