:headscratch: You know, today's US army is rather different from those of the early twentieth century. None of them are drafted, they're all trained professional soldiers. Unless you're going to pull a Hera and say imported African genes make us intrinsically bad soldiers, this is moot. But then, a discussion of a hypothetical fight between the US and some Scandinavian country or another is also moot. All you have is Ikea, fish and chicks with big knockers in bikinis. We have ready access to all three.

Yeah, I mentioned that in a post last night. Really, it's all about roles. That ship seems intended to fight subs and smaller ships. The Wasp is intended to be D-Day in a box. Totally different things.

        I like that. D-Day in a box.

          Bye bye US carriers
Yeah it's a good thing for the Chinese that we don't have ships with anti-ballistic missile systems attached to 'em. THEN WE WOULD BE SCREWED.

Or, you know, we could just park the ships outside the DF-21's range until we down the satellites that would be used to guide them in. We wouldn't even have to waste SM-3s.

All of this can only led to tears. Are the Spratley islands worth it?
