What is your favourite landmark in the city in which you live?
Because the original meaning of the word describes a feature or structure which is used for navigation or giving directions. Moving landmarks therefore would be somewhat unhelpful.
also what i call the a favela azul (the blue favela), which is a favela almost entirely painted in light blue. it's on a hill fairly near the centre (i've worked out it must be between estacio and santo cristo) and has a big church (in brilliant white) in the centre. it looks amazing from the bus. i want to find out more about it, but i can't find any pictures and every caricoa i've mentioned it to doesn't seem to have any idea what i'm talking about.

The best you could say is that the Awakening no longer became a landmark. Or that it gives out faulty directions nowadays.
The Awakening defined Hains Point for several decades, so it rightly should have been called a landmark.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
Face it guys, you can't top Washington DC in terms of landmarks. We have one for just about every important event in American history.
Beat the building where the Declaration of Independence was written:
(I often catch the 47 bus that stops right there )
The building where the Declaration of Independence AND the Constitution was signed:
Where the American Flag was first sewn...
And you're not even from DC, HC!

The Bean (technically, it's named Cloud Gate)... It's by British artist Anish Kapoor.
It's made of stainless steel, is 66 feet long, 33 feet high, and weighs 110 tons. The arch underneath is 12 feet high. And yes, the Chicago Park District employs people to keep it shiny.

2. Those are brick houses. I live in a house that looks just like it, only bigger. Bo-ring
You're from Northern Virginia. Not DC. Do you live in the city of DC. Is Adrien Fenty your mayor?
Secondly, you were the one talking about history... you can't get more important historical landmarks anywhere else in this country than Philadelphia.

Jesus ****ing christ, Alby. I'm in a DC suburb. My dad works downtown. Most of my friend's parents work downtown. When people ask us where we are from, we say, DC. Or Northern Virginia, a suburb of DC.
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers? ){ :|:& };:
That's like people in Abington claiming to be from Philly. You're not from DC, boy. You live in the state of Virginia. Last i checked DC wasn't in the state of Virginia.

Explain. What county receives your parents property taxes? What county do you attend school in?
