I'm always a bit wary of the info when people start naming salmon and trout as being the big fish that will die out in the great lakes. The name of the game is Walleye. Walleye are the big money fish.

Anyways, the threat is very real. I can see a lot of uproar on the next few years when the Asian carp start wiggling up on beaches. I doubt that filling in the old Chicago river will completely solve the problem though. Just like the lake sturgeon Walleye may be going extinct.

Seems to me you could run 1 boat with a motor behind another boat with a huge net and scour the rivers clean of carp.

Anyway at some point there'll be a flood in the area which will allow the carp to cross into the lakes. Local species are ****ed.

We already ran the blue walleye extinct in the 1980's due to over fishing so why not kill off the yellow walleye as well? Let them eat Asian carp, says I.

They can only be caught in nets or by bow fishing because they feed on plankton so it isn't like you can use a fishing lure to catch them.
