By fixing lamb flocks and preventing lions from taking each others' you're reducing the available dimensions of optimization, solomwi.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

And, as I said: it seems a bit feudal to me.
Lambs may not appreciate being told that they are now the property of one lion.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

Well, let's say that the current ideas exempt certain weaker lions from controls. The strongest lions will then feast on the decidedly tastier meat of fellow meat-eaters (whose numbers and vulnerability have increased) while the losers will be the mediocre lions who cannot simultaneously comply with controls and hunt effectively.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

One other aspect of this I haven't commented on is that without teeth, we will be forced to gum lambs to death. It seems an altogether more painful way to die.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

I think you all are forgetting the purpose of a metaphor...
What would that be? According to what I was taught, it's the purveyance of one idea by equating it with an analogous one. I believe this fits that definition.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

But to what purpose, KH? This is the first time I've seen anyone extrapolate a metaphor like this and turn it into an esoteric discussion without much clear correspondence to anything real (you're just adding metaphors onto metaphors... filing down teeth mean what exactly?)"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

What if the lions lays down with the lamb? Then we'll have lion-lamb hybrids!“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
