An argument broke out today at work about salaries in various countries,
so we decided to check some on the internet. I've always had doubts
about the reliability of such figures, but today I completely lost respect
for one of the biggest comparison sites. See below why.

Apparently, since it's one of the first hits on Google and Google ranks
sites according to how many people link to them.

BTW, the most reliable (but also very laborious) way to find income
information is to go to the site of the statistical office of the country
in question, hope that they have an English version (they often do),
then dig through menus to find pdf and Excel documents in which the
data is presented in some weird classification scheme in which fishermen
are lumped with oil drillers or something. Not an easy task... which
probably explains why we have comparison sites.
