I write in print all of the time. However, more formal notes like thank you notes or notes of condolence are in cursive. I write so few of these that it's tough to keep up the habit. My cursive writing looks even more awful than it once did.

Is cursive script an anachronism?

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

My fiancee and I cook all the time. It's one of the activities we really enjoy doing with one another.Originally posted by Albert Speer View PostIt's not?

Your whole area of expertise is an anachronism, so you're no expert, but being able to cook is frequently useful--for example, when you're not so flush as to be able to eat out every night. As for cursive...I sign my name in it. THAT'S IT. I have never needed it once in my life otherwise. I write my thank-you notes in print, neatly, simply because that's how I write. Nobody ever called me a boor.Originally posted by Oncle Boris View PostHow retarded can you be? This is like asking, is it outdated to make your own food.

I didn't know they'd stopped teaching it. I guess they still do here.
In the UK exam answers are still hand written and we have essay questions. Having to print answers to those would take forever.Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth

Most professors in the US seem to vastly prefer print. I've had professors say you can't write in cursive because it's less legible."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Mine didn't. They expected legible penmanship. They also had long exams.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.
