I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

      Counterintuitively, that's not the case:

This year's classes have it particularly bad, according to lawyers and industry experts. Though hiring was down last year as well, they said 2009 graduates applied for jobs before law firms had felt the full brunt of the downturn.

Not that I'm complaining like the entitled pussies they interview in the trite ****ty-shyster-job-market articles that seem to circulate with every full moon, since you're looking at a guy who could find happiness making $30K and living on $15K like Charlie Kelly as he's already done for the last half-decade. Anything beyond that is gravy and all I care about is doing something interesting.

Your friends and classmates will still be way too anxious and cramming way too hard during the whole exam. Do the month of BarBri mad-libs, the practice multistate questions, and a quick review of any problem spots the night before the first session and you should be fine. At that point, worrying and cramming become counterproductive.

I recommend having a beer or three each night, just not so much that getting to the test in the morning is a problem. Worked for me.
That's the plan; the classes are only a month anyway, leaving an empty month to do all the cold-letter bull**** and otherwise be social again. Today I had to laugh out loud at how the nervous nellies around me even studied ahead for the ****ing "preview" week's diagnostic exams. It's mindboggling.

Of course, there's always law school. Never mind that applications are at an all-time high and that thousands of legal positions at investment banking firms have disappeared forever. Never mind that recent Ivy League law school graduates are now working as file clerks, substitute school teachers, census takers. Never mind that in order to pay back the $200,000 it's going to cost you to go to law school, you'll need to land one of those plum legal jobs at Goldman Sachs or AIG or one of those other firms that are no longer hiring because they owe so much to the lawyers they already did hire to defend them from lawsuits brought by the government's lawyers, public prosecutors who only took those jobs because Goldman Sachs and AIG weren't hiring. Good luck getting your parents to pay for that one.

Yeah, I don't feel bad for that kid, at all. They bash the Baby Boomers later, though.

Sadly, all the baby boomer bashing isn't going to change anything. . .unless we really bash them.

                  All right, read it.

Still a bit too whiny for my tastes. I found a job in FINANCE as a FOREIGNER in 2009.

One guy I work with is basically the only person I know to get hired in Jan. 2009

                  Balls to the wall, baby.

True. I probably wouldn't have posted it if I hadn't wanted to make Darius feel better.

Your skill set is pretty rare. Lawyers (even Ivy League) are a dime a dozen.

Actually, I'm surprised at how many people simply don't know how to get a job. They just send resumes to computer databases and hope for the best.

                        Exactly my point.

Do hard things, and then sell out when you've maximized your expected lifetime earnings.

I have no idea how to find a job. Headhunters find them for me.
