At first I stood by and did nothing, but now I must declare war on 'Glee'
On second thought, I won't mail the prescription for a new pair of testicles; I'm going to overnight it. You are clearly more far gone than I had previously thought.
Dislike of NPH indicates a severe mental illness. I suggest you see a psychiatrist right away, Guy

No, Marines are not part of the Navy. Part of the Department of the Navy but not part of the Navy. The distinction is subtle but important.
Marines fall under Department Of The Navy. Separate, but the same. Navy takes them where they have to go.

Didn't I just say that? Part of the Department of the Navy but not the Navy itself.
There's been enough hoopla about changing it to "Department of the Navy and the Marine Corps" to show that there's a lot of people that really care about the distinction.
U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, a former Marine, today urged colleagues to recognize the service and sacrifice of the Marine Corps by redesignating the Department of the Navy as the Department of the Navy and the Marine Corps.
“By adding three words, we can credit the Marine Corps as a full service,” Senator Roberts said. “We can publicly acknowledge that the Secretary of the Navy is also the head of the Marine Corps. We can acknowledge the Corps is on an equal footing with other services. And we can do this at a time when we are asking all of our servicemen and women to make great sacrifices for our country.”
Roberts’ bill, S 504, will redesignate the Department of the Navy as the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps. It does not move funds, change promotions or take away mission or jurisdiction. Rather, it corrects a long standing disparity by which the Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy by simply adding “and Marine Corps” to the title of the service. The Department of the Navy would become the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps and the Secretary would become the Secretary of the Navy and Marine Corps.
“This legislation does not detract from the tremendous commitment and dedication of our U.S. Navy personnel or any other service,” Roberts said.

You seem a little uptight, Albert. Take a deep breath. Yes, they're different.

The marines are another department in the navy. The navy basically carries the marines to their separate suicide missions.

ps. I'm proud to admit that I have no idea what "Glee" is; although, I did join the "glee club" in highschool for one day so that a friend could talk to a hot cheerleader (I was wingman). They made stupid posters with glitter and I was embarrased (despite being a nerd) to be there.
Maybe we should have someone that knows what they're talking about talk.
Air Force = Forward Observers? Idiot.

When it comes to music, is there such a thing as purely objective 'quality?' Aside from the matter of purely technical skill, of course, as in John Bonham being a better drummer than Meg White. But then there are plenty of opera singers who have greater range and control than pretty much any bluesman who ever lived, and that doesn't mean we should all love opera and despise the blues. And I assume that's not what you meant anyway, because IIRC (it's been a while), Winehouse had a fairly flat affect to her voice. Not totally flat, but not what you'd call super-lively either. No real power in it, if you want to talk about 'quality.' An actual black man would probably provide some much-needed resonance.
Really music, like art, is almost entirely a matter of personal taste. I'm asking what people find emotionally appealing about Amy Winehouse, that's all.
The voice is just an instrument, it's perfectly reasonable to say someone is playing a beautiful quality violin but the sound of violins annoys me, or I dislike the song they are playing on it.

But you only think it's quality in terms of sociological norms for what people generally find to be a good violin.
Maybe a quality violin is one that always sounds sharp.
"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
Ben Kenobi: "That means I'm doing something right. "

you say sociological norms, I say accepted standards.
