There is no meaningful difference between a machine that transforms high-skill labor (robot designers) into cars by building the cars here and a machine that transforms high-skill labor (airplane manufacturers) into cars by putting the airplanes onto boats and then having the boats come back with cars in them.
One is called a "factory" and the other is called "free trade".
wait, what? I can't figure out what the **** you are saying.
No one actually lives overseas. "Free trade" is just a euphemism for a special machine that finds boats that sail over the horizon, takes the stuff off of the boats, and puts on different stuff.
I doubt that is the case, actually. These poll results probably happened because people have a predilection to believe things that support their ideology. There are sets of questions that could be asked regarding market failures and government interventions that would probably have reversed the pattern show in this survey.
That probably is the best explanation for why progressives answered one way, and libertarians another way. But the lack of one correct answer that all educated, intelligent people must agree to is what allows even honest, educated, intelligent people to go one way or another, so I think the murkiness of the questions is intensifying the disparity.

Have you noticed everyone is "deliberately misreading" things? What he's saying makes perfect sense -- it can be read both ways.
I'm seeing you making this mistake a lot. You must keep in mind English is ambiguous and many people can read certain sentences many different ways. The survey in the OP is a great example for how not to word survey questions for that reason.
People who read it differently than you are not "deliberately misreading" things. The world does not revolve around your viewpoint.

Your point would be valid if you weren't using it to defend yourself and gribbler.

A point's validity is independent of the circumstances of its use.
