  • Help me find a good map for 753 BCE

I am working on a game which starts in 753 BCE, i.e. the mythical founding of Rome. It needs to show most of Europe, all of if possible, north africa and chunk of Asia of possible. Something which does not look like a blank outline and is not ugly, but not so detailed that I cannot clearly differentiate different countries(players)

I also need to find a list of nations and major city states which actually existed in 753 BC, in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Finding either has been much more difficult than I thought. Anyone care to lend me a hand?

I appreciate the help, but that is much too big and has far too few details. I am interested in the Mediterranean, Europe, north Africa and a bit of Asia, the Asyrian/Persian empire if possible..... most of the map is just of no help.

As far as I can tell:

        Haojing
        Luoyang
        Anyang
        Jiyuan
        Puyang
        Kaifeng
        Denfeng
        Xi'an
        Xingtai
        Qufu

Are the only cities that are known to exist in this period in China, during the Zhou dynasty. Beijing is about as old as Rome, so you may wish to include it here too.

What a pig. Here's hoping someone can drop a map of a myth on you, that requires nothing from you.

If you want to stick to the mediterreanean, here are the Greeks and their interrelationship to one another.

            And a city list:

            Larissa
            Thebes
            Chalkis
            Athens
            Megara
            Corinth
            Argos
            Tegea
            Megalopolis
            Sparta
            Mantinea
            Pylos
            Olympia
            Elis
            Ambracia
            Delphi
            Delos
            Phiastos
            Knossos
            Halicarnassus
            Rhodes
            Samos
            Miletus
            Ephesus
            Smyrna
            Phocaea
            Pergamum

I meant cities in Europe, the mediteranean and western asia/the middle east. As to slowhand. A map of a myth? We have some decent maps of the era.

I found some very detailed ones, the problem is they are so detailed its impossible to read them. I can only seem to find blank ones, or ones which are so clustered as to be unreadable.

Edit: Ah! I found that one earlier but lost it, that helps me fill out Greece, thanks Ben.

I can tell how plentiful and easy they are to find.
