      If what Ben said was true, no one would ever get insurance.
      Wow. Ok.

      1. If you want elective surgery, insurance is the way to go.

      2. Quality. If you want a particular doctor, insurance is the way to go.

      3. Risk allocation, If you want to spread your potential costs out, you get insurance.

      There are plenty of reasons to get insurance, particularly if you are less healthy than the average individual.

          Yes, people with pre-existing medical conditions should most definitely get insurance.
