I liked CivIII too, as did my wife. It really wasn't that bad. It had a number of very good concepts. The execution of those concepts was obviously rather hit & miss.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

We don't know why or if the drugs cause people to kill themselves. We do know that a large percentage of people experience better lives because of them. Sometimes it takes several tries to get the right drug. Friend of mine was on Paxil for years, just maintaining, was switched to Prozac, and the change was very noticeable, very quick, too.
If you had a broken leg, you wouldn't be all, well, it's weakness to rely on crutches and a cast. I should just keep on walking to get stronger. The brain is physical. If the chemistry is off, you're off. You a little experiment to prove this to yourself. Get drunk.
The drugs don't make you happy. The drugs make you normal. However, when you've been down so long, being normal can feel ecstatic.
Also keep in mind that your depression causes your brain to try and trick you and not do the things you need to do to get out of depression.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Thanks for sharing this. And your example about a broken leg is very similar to what one of my friends said, when they said the brain is really another organ, like the heart is. When you have a heart problem you get a prescription, likewise, when you have depression, you need to do something to treat the problem affecting your brain.Originally posted by chequita guevara View PostWe don't know why or if the drugs cause people to kill themselves. Now that's depressing.Originally posted by MrFun View PostI liked Civilization III.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Corruption and waste were so high that a city on the same screen as your capital lost a quarter of its production, IIRC. Also, "culture." At least, those were my reasons.Originally posted by chequita guevara View PostThat's how I felt. I never understood the hate for C3.

Seriously though, I have on and off struggled with depression for, well, a long time. There are certain "factors" that exacerbate it. I'm not going into it here though. Been there, done that...Speaking of Erith:
