They jacked my gasoline bill, electricity bill, condo fees, and gym membership all by 8% starting next months (they were previously exempt from the 8% provincial tax, but in rolling it together with the GST the PST exemptions no longer apply...now they apply to most things previously exempt)

Sales tax in Alberta: 5% (all federal, can't avoid it)
Sales tax in Ontario: 13% (5% federal + 8% provincial = 13% HST)

Car insurance is also going up like 12% on average in Toronto this summer or something. It's already ****ing crazy overpriced.
My insurance in Alberta's about a third of what it is out here.
This is a disgusting, vile place and I urge everyone to stay far, far away.

I continue to wonder why you are in favour of having the lowest taxes possible while the Government of Alberta blows the returns from nonrenewable resources on roads, hospitals, etc. for transient labour.(\__/)
