Basically an even game - even in shots, penalty minutes and (obviously) goals scored through 60 min (very clean game BTW!). .

Believe as you will (as will I ) but there are many games where goals and shots are even where one team has had way more scoring chances. Team Canada had at least two solid shots that beat Miller and went off the post (not shots on goal ) and several more near misses including that Crosby partial breakaway

They WERE far better . They played Canada almost even.

It's oversimplifying to say the goalie change was the difference, but that's when Canada went on their 4-game, do-or-die streak. And I'm all about easy analysis.

Nah - you are not about easy analysis-- The easy analysis would be to assume that a team necessarily played better when they won than when they lost. You didn't do that.

But you are correct, the goalie change was huge for Canada. Luongos was never amazing and never stole a game but he played solid and didn't lose games for Canada either. He was generally very solid and that was all that Canada needed in the end
