Maple sucks. I had to use it for comp chem 2 years ago (the thread is probably still around here) and I never understood it.

Ooooh, boy, it's worse than I thought. Maple has two distinct primitive types of list with subtly different properties, which require trivial casts in some cases for reasons that are only obvious to a CS person.
Honestly, even though it was ostensibly designed by mathematicians, it looks like it was designed by compscis who cared more about making the language elegant than usable.Comment

Canadian software is the highest quality in the world. There are many studies showing this. This is why there's so many Canadian consulting companies writing software for major US institutions such as banks and even government. It has to do with our winters forcing us to stay inside and code.
Russian software is only famous for causing catastrophic failures. Remember that Concorde ripoff that crashed in a simple demonstration flight? Russians.
