Expect to see a resurgence of the quasi-pedos and US-haters.

The PDMA rules were invented specifically to prevent the user revolts that happens on Apolyton. It works pretty well and helps manage to preserve the prestige and authority of the moderators, and in addition keeps an orderly forum. And an orderly forum attracts people who would otherwise be alienated by typical internet forums.

Only actual problems occur when moderators abuse their powers, but that's kept in check by the petitioning system. Anyway, there are other outlets for CFCers to talk about moderator actions outside of the forum itself.

Er, private forums don't have silly things such as freedom of speech or the like. They're private, and one is privileged to be allowed in. Quality is certainly more important than "freedom" on a forum.

Talking about fascism in such a context is as nonsensical as telling a homeowner that he is a fascist for ordering you out of his house.

          • I could pull out one of my, it's my living room speeches that I used to do when I was an owner here, but it would sound equally silly. Yes it's a private forum where freedom of speech is not a right, but if my neighbor ordered me out of his house because i told him the orange chair in his living room looked ugly, I'd call him a fascist. And the stuff that people get dinged for over there is totally ridiculous and the main reason why i think i have one or two posts over there. But to each his own.

            • Are you on escalating bans, Pat?

              • I liked it better when CFC posters could rant about moderators in one forum, Site Feedback, because I found it rather amusing. Apparently administration felt it was no longer practical with the size of the membership. It is nothing I feel strongly about one way or the other, just part of Thunderfall's strong preference for collegiality and order within his house.
Back when there was just a few hundred members and before most of the rules evolved as the post volume increased, I was one of the spammers and the best flamer and trolls there.

I suppose nobody is supposed to care or wonder why one of the boards most prolific posters suddenly stopped visiting the board. So much for community. Down the memory hole with you
Come on, Pat, be fair. You know it's against the rules. What do you expect the moderators to do?

And seriously, it's not like there's some sort of conspiracy to get rid of certain viewpoints, that's just absurd; there are clearly defined rules (even if not specifically stated in the forum rules, what is and is not acceptable is well known, especially for experienced posters like Pat and Eco). Whether you agree with those rules or not, you know what the limits are, and you know that if you want to keep posting, you should stay within them. I mean, okay, cool, you might feel you want to stand up to injustice on the internet and the curtailment of your right to speak, or whatever ideals you think a forum should adhere to, but don't get surprised and angry when you are infracted for something you know you are going to be infracted for.

A classic example of not really understanding the rules people are asked to enforce.

I have been several times over the years, have heard reputation and rumor of CFC.

However, found CFC nothing but hospitable when seeking help/guidance/advice on various games and areas I was uncertain of.

I have made mistakes here in trying to get things to be what I feel is right, now, after prayerfully considering, I come here to be somewhat entertained.I was wrong, admit it and am trying

I have been wrong in dealing with Ming in past and publicly admit I was wrong. I am sure combination of Demerol, Vicodin,Morphine, Fentanol,Nubain and Phenergan for 12-24 months indeed clouded my ability to see I was a jerk not Ming.

I made some very crass/crude comments and am sorry. I understand some would say they accept my apology, some wont, some will attack some will belittle/berate me for actions, all ok,

Really none of my business what any site does/does not do.

I can post or I can stay away.

                            Very simple.

But that post by Pat is one of the reasons why the rule is there. If the PDMA rule hadn't been enforced, it would've turned into pages and pages of discussion. As it was, that thread died on, like, the next post. And not infracting it would just lead to more and more of the same type of thing. So, sure, you can disagree with the premise for the rule, but it wasn't a misinterpretation of the rules by the moderators. Or you could even go with the argument that it was a misinterpretation. But it's a misinterpretation that anyone who spends as much time on CFC as Pat would know of. So he shouldn't expect anything less than an infraction.

                              • I actually feel sorry for the moderators that have to search every day through hundreds of pages of posts just to find a few silly infractions for something they don't even get paid for.
