And Jefferson would be horrified that the cause of limited federal government was being co-opted by such ignorant, hateful morons.
Actually, I rather imagine that Jefferson would be more horrified by a black man being President than by the Teabaggers. Unless you're talking about a different Jefferson.

How does that make him any less racist than he was historically? Jefferson wouldn't have even supported the Civil Rights movement, much less a black President.

Given the fact that all of the Founders constructed and implicitly agreed to a document with, for example, the 3/5s rule, and no prohibition on slavery, you're gonna have a mighty tough time convincing me that they wouldn't be horrified by a black President

People don't form their views in an information vacuum. Were the founders alive today they would certainly be heavily influenced by their contemporary peers and political environment, and likely much less "racist".

George III reportedly called Washington the greatest man in the world after he turned down a US kingship.

For their time, the founders were the ****.

People are products of their time and culture, and ignoring that is foolish. By the standards of the day, Jefferson's views on race were fairly enlightened. Given his generally intelligent, insightful nature, there's little reason to doubt that if he had access to all the information we now do about race and the past 200+ years of national and world history, he'd not be in the least bit appalled by black people being integrated and in positions of power.

It'd actually be pretty fun to bring Jefferson forward in time and watch him flip out.

You don't get to call anyone else "dim," since you can't even get basic sayings like "toe the line" right.

I wonder what Jeffersons thoughts would be on mandates of health insurance purchases.

Hell, Jefferson wasn't really a fan of the Constitution in the first place.

Who cares what the founding fathers would think? We are the forgers of our own future.

He agreed with Patrick Henry in that the bill of rights was a necessity as a check on the government.

Because he wanted to limit the Constitution. Bill of Rights is, of course, an amendment.

That's the best point, yes. They're all dead, so what they would or wouldn't think/want is rather irrelevant.

And just because someone was a "Founding Father" doesn't mean he wasn't a total dick, anyway.

I believe this answers the OPs question conclusively.

Isn't the "Bill of Rights" just a nickname for the original US constitution ie. the first 10 amendments?

The first 10 amendments aren't part of the original U.S. Constitution, they're amendments.
