If it helps anyone with their decision -

1) Jennifer Jones died almost simultaneous to ColdWizard submitting her name (she wasn't already dead when he chose her). His submission was on the 16th and she died on the 17th.

2) ColdWizard's 21st pick is still alive.

I'm sympathetic but unbending. Rules is rules, and this situation is specifically covered.

There's a rule that directly addresses the situation. I hate it for CW, but have to vote no on the substitution.

Meh. Rules is rules and rule 6 is there for a reason, presumably. I have good and plenty of reasons for not checking but that's not relevant. If I'm allowed to vote, I vote no.

6. The Panel Judge will not determine if the submitted celebrity is currently alive. If you choose someone that is already dead you will be stuck with that celebrity on your list unless you notice and report the error prior to January 1st, 2010. If you still have available celebrities from your Reserve List one will be moved up to replace the already deceased choice prior to the start of the Pool.

Besides, she wasn't dead when I vetted the list.

WE HAVE A RULE THAT COVERS THIS EXACT SITUATION.

I'm offended that a vote is even being taken.

If the situation wasn't covered by the rules, I would always vote in favor of the player. But in this case, there is a rule, and I'm not a big fan of changing the rules in the middle of the contest. If no one likes the rule, we can change it for next year... But since there is a rule in place that covers this exact situation...

You had until 1/1/10 to figure this out, and failed.
