Worst gift ever

I don't know what the worst gift I ever received was, so I guess it's never been something so bad it was memorable.

On the other hand I've given some lousy gifts, like a dishcloth. It was meant as a joke though and I hope he got it. I wasn't going to get him anything at all, but we'd been having this long ironic conversation about dishcloths.

Dreams From My Father was an early version of the much better Fugitive Days, a 2001 memoir by William Ayers that chronicled his days as the leader of the Weather Underground. Ben is obviously perturbed that he was given the inferior version as a gift.

It's a hit piece, but pretty interesting. Anybody who believes that politicians actually write their own memoirs is an idiot (except writers who became politicians, like Churchill).

It was boring. He isn't a very funny person normally and I indulged him. That's why I wonder if he got the joke. He told me thanks later and smirked, but considering he has smirked at opportune and inopportune times before I still don't know if he got it, or more pertinently, how he got it. Don't care all that much either. We're still friends, nothing changed there.
