If the climate had been a bank, the West would have saved it by now...

Both healthcare reform and Copenhagen are going down the toilet in the same week. Best Christmas ever?
Let's face it, we're all going to fry.
There's another disturbing trend that Copenhagen won't likely fix. For the last 5 1/2 months or so, my area's dropped from about 15 hours daylight to around 9. At the rate we're going we're plunging into total darkness!!!. Think about it; over the last 30 years the earth is getting hotter. That trend's been joined by daylight vanishing.
As a brilliant Prime Minister of Canada once remarked, "if Kyoto didn't pass in 30 years people are going to start dying. Looks like he's right but a lot sooner than we thought.
Time to panic!!!

If the climate had been a bank I could have interviewed with it. Why the hell should I pay to save something that won't hire me at a massively inflated salary?

“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.” - Jimmy Carter
Obama is taking his tired rhetorical tropes international now.
Obama: 'Time for talk is over'
COPENHAGEN — A visibly angry Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet at China and other developing nations Friday, declaring that the time has come "not to talk but to act" on climate change.
Emerging from a multinational meeting boycotted by Chinese Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Obama warned delegates that U.S. offers of funding for poor nations would remain on the table “if and only if” developing nations, including China, agreed to international monitoring of their greenhouse gas emissions.
"I have to be honest, as the world watches us... I think our ability to take collective action is doubt and it hangs in the balance,” Obama told the COP-15 plenary session as hope for anything more than a vague political in agreement faded.
“The time for talk is over, this is the bottom line: We can embrace this accord, take a substantial step forward. We can do that and everyone who is in this room will be part of an historic endeavor or we can choose delay,” he said.
He added: “The question is whether we will move forward together, or split apart… We know the fault lines because we’ve been imprisoned by them for years.”
His point is valid though. You can't trust the CPC to be honest with emissions reporting. If $100B is on the table (please no) then this is necessary.

Copenhagen: India and China have taken a united stand and walked out of the climate summit as Copenhagen talks fail.
Tensions prevailed at the climate talks at Copenhagen today, as Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and China premier Wen Jiabao walked out of the summit along with their respective delegations, as talks failed.
