I'm not impressed with Mensans, and for that reason I will not take an IQ test. I have no idea where I would score though.

Personally, I think "g" is for the most part worthless. Like anything you can become more adept at pattern recognition through study and application. Is this intelligence?

One thing is true, though. There definitely seems to be a trade-off between intelligence and social skills. The phenomenon is easily explained.

Well there are people with Ausperg like tendencies, but I think for the most part people skills are just that. Skills that can be learned. Be careful by what you mean by "trade off". You need to clear up whether you mean that the trade off has a strong biological basis or if its mostly due to socialization.


A bit OT: People skills and "common sense" may well be overrated anyhow. There are many situations where you can bypass such situations or achieve comparable results with other means if only you have sufficient intelligence or/and self control.

How was George Bush's IQ derived? Was it from an actual test or was it an estimation based on personal historical achievements, such as age when he talked, learned to read, years of educational attainment? If his IQ was derived via the later, that system of IQ calculation has some obvious flaws, i.e., Daddy's money and position probably determined some of his educational attainments. If his IQ comes from an actual test, then when was this test taken? If he took an IQ test in high school or college, maybe that was befor the alcohol and drugs took effect.
