  • The Geography of Jobs

The US employment landscape has changed dramatically in the past two decades. The red and blue bubbles in this map represent a rolling 12-month net change in total employment across US metropolitan areas.

Very interesting link. I love how the 'Bush Depression' absolutely destroyed jobs in America from 2005 onwards.

Actually, the Bush Depression did not begin to early 2008. And employment is a trailing indicator, meaning it really didn't kick in until mid 2008.

Before that, the Bushonomics created lots of McJobs --y,know: low paying, no health care, no pensions, with little chance of advancement. Still, it's better to have a McJob than no job.

      "Bush Depression"

Term used as irony to describe the economic expansion from 2001-2007 coinciding with the Bush Administration. Often used in contrast to the "Obama Depression" where the high tax policies, and government spending increased of the Obama administration resulted in 10 year lows in the stock market, and the continued loss of jobs throughout 2009.

"Man, I miss that Bush Depression, things were good back then, weren't they?"

You might want to check on how well that "expansion" went in 2001-2002.

After that, the Bush Bubble began, fueled by lack of regulation in the mortgage market, causing a real estate bubble, and fueled by run-away consumer spending where, near the end, the savings rate for the entire nation went negative.

We're still down 50 percent from the 'lows' of the 'Bush depression', Zkribbler. Man, this must be the Obama Abyssal plain.

Again, you're confusing Obama with Bush. [Remember: Obama's the one who can speak in complete sentences.]

The DJIA high was 14,000. The crash was under Bush, leaving Obama to take office with a plummetting market. But Obama turned in around in just six weeks when the DJIA bottomed out at 6,500. Since then, it's been up, up, up. Indeed, it's climbed 50% since the March lows.
