It's very entertaining watching Obama-bashers running in circles while chewing their own legs off in anger over this. My favorite so far is Kuci calling Obama's very humble acceptance speech arrogant. Kuci lives in a bizarro world where up is down, war is peace, poverty is riches, and oppression is opportunity.

It's old hat for the Nobel committee (Arafat and Kissinger have already removed any meaning from the award) but it is very amusing watching zkribbler try to argue it was somehow deserved.

Putting someone on ignore can be reasonable, but displaying it is idioticWith or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I was at work all day, from 8A to 8P, talking parents down from the ledge of complete bat**** insanity when I diagnosed their respective children with the flu.
This is the first I've seen of this. This is a joke, right? This has Onion written all over it."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

More precisely, I was responding to those who said Obama had done nothing. And I was explaining the Committee's position.
Obama has changed the entire tenor of U.S. foreign policy from saber-rattling to diplomacy, from self-centered hegemonism to multilateral mutual respect. This has provided an atmoshere in which the Iranians and the North Koreans feel it will be productive to return to negotiations. He has lessened tensions with Russia, which had been threatening to blossom into a new Cold War. He has changed the U.S. policy on climate change.
Do I think this is enough for him to deserve the Peace Prize? No. Does Obama think this enough from him to deserve the Pleace Prize? No. He said he'd accept the prize "as a call to action."
He's laid the groundwork for great advances for peace. He's built the foundations. And those things alone are real steps forward towards peace. But now the real work begins.

It may have been previously mentioned, but I'm pretty sure (from snippets I've overheard at various times and places) that the medicine Nobel winners know beforehand. That being said, 1) why the pretense over the surprise and 2) why not turn the thing down? If he does anything for world peace at some point in the future then he may actually deserve one but for now its a ****ing joke (that he's the brunt of).We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

It would look unappreciative/rude to actually turn it down. His acceptance speech, as it was, seems to strike a decent tone (embarrassed and acknowledging that he doesn't deserve the prize, but finding something positive to say about it)12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET
