And I guess we can overlook the voter fraud issues then that you usually rag on the repugs for.

Stealing a whole country v stealing a few dollars

And I'm surprised that anybody is still defending them, on top of the voter registration fraud issues.

Because, in spite of some bad apples, they've done a lot of good work for the most oppressed sector of society. No one has ever been able to show systemic corruption on the part of ACORN, unlike, say, the GOP.

Given the communities ACORN serves, which are also the communities from which ACORN hires, it's not surprising that they have more than the average share of bad apples. Social worker positions are not known to be the best paying jobs, so they attract two types of people to the jobs, crusaders and the desperate.

Part of the problem is that no one wants to donate to a charitable organization that pays its workers a living wage. There's this belief that such workers should be living like Mother Theresa, sacrificing everything while you only give a few dollars. When it comes out that some organization actually has paid employees enough to lie off of, donations usually fall a lot (the exception seems to be mega churches).

Out of how many thousands of people, rah? In some cases, it was ACORN that turned people in.

If you're going to hire people to do voter registration, you're going to pay one of two ways: by the registration or hourly. Each opens it up to fraud. Either you get paid for bringing in fake registrations or you get paid for dumping them in a trash can somewhere and goofing off.

A lot of smaller churches lack the ability to pay their staff a comfortable wage. A lot of church labor is donated. I think the only person who got paid at my Church was Father Green.

There are many charitable organizations that help poor people that aren't involved in voter registration fraud and handing out information to avoid taxes and prostitution laws.

They don't deserve another penny until they've proven that they've clean up their act.
Which at this point will be almost impossible due to their reputation.
Maybe they should break up to smaller units that are more easily watched/controlled

I don't care if you keep supporting an organization that routinely is involved in voter registration fraud. I just find it funny that you make a big deal when someone else does it. And when I commented that both sides do you, you just laughed and started comparing. IT"S BAD WHEN ANYBODY DOES IT. be consistent.

Just last year in TX
TX 2008 In Harris County, nearly 10,000 ACORN-submitted registrations were found to be invalid, including many with clearly fraudulent addresses or other personal information.

And you know that, even if ACORN suspects that registrations are fraudulent, they must turn them in. Only the state is allowed to make the determination of whether or not a form is invalid.

It still makes them guilty of voter registration fraud. Damn, look it up. State by state.
An organization can do some good and still be criminal. I thought I heard yesterday on the news that they've received over 40 million dollars of federal money. That's enough money to find some honest employees.
