Yeah, Asher, I too have to admit that your elitism is showing.
My mother was a journalism major and she was not stupid.
Limit yourself to facts instead of your highly biased opinions and you'll do better. You don't need to resort to those tactics.
It is an observable fact that journalism majors aren't that bright. Have you ever read an article in a newspaper about your field and not found a glaring error?
Everyone thinks highly of their mother, but face facts, rah.

I have no opinion on the argument but that was gold.

Yes, they are not experts in my field. That doesn't make them stupid. I've known quite a few journalism majors (and I'll leave my mother out of it, even though I loved tossing her in the pool) and they weren't all idiots. It's not fair to paint them all with the same brush. Now with lawyers, you'll get no arguement from me.
I still prefer newspaper articles over stories on TV news. (I guess that comment really doesn't say anything either)

Newspaper articles will usually contain more depth.
The problem with journalism majors (and journalists) as I see it is the lack of knowledge in the area they are reporting on. They know how to tell us the story, it's the what that they mess up.

It's a generalization so of course it's not always true. In general terms though, journalism majors are probably of average intelligence. The problem is in universities, most people are above average.
I say this from my vast experience of dealing with several journalism majors and having read foxnews.com once or twice.

1. ACORN has some 'splainin' to do! And some reforming to do. Sure, it's a "gotcha" setup, but they fell right into it. Asher's line of defense is about the best one can do, and it's weak.
2. I find it interesting that The Mad Monk's "awakening" happened to coincide with the election of Obama. I wish he, and many others, had "woken up" in 2002.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
It looks like the guy bankrolling this and releasing the information is Andrew Breitbart. A fanatical GOP supporter (at the very least). Frequet panelist on Fox News' Red Eye, former editor on The Drudge Report, and famous for piling on invective on Ted Kennedy on his passing:
Early this morning, news broke that Sen. Ted Kennedy had passed away after serving in the U.S. Senate for nearly 50 years. Soon after, conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart began a sustained assault on Kennedy’s memory, tweeting “Rest in Chappaquiddick.”
Over the course of the next three hours, Breitbart unapologetically attacked Kennedy, calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “*****.” “I’ll shut my mouth for Carter. That’s just politics. Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement,” wrote Breitbart in one tweet.
When Politico’s Michael Calderone highlighted Breitbart’s attacks in an article called, “Not all Kennedy critics hold fire,” a pleased Breitbart tweeted:
When a fellow conservative tweeted to Breitbart asking him not to treat Kennedy like they believe some on the left treated the passing of Tony Snow and Ronald Reagan, Breitbart responded “How dare you compare Snow & Reagan to Kennedy! Why do you grant a BULLY special status upon his death? This isnt lib v con.” Despite his claim that his attacks weren’t about “lib v. con,” Breitbart repeatedly justified them in ideological terms.
“Look, this man was granted absolution for nothing. Class, life station played a part but PARTY was everything. GOP couldnt get away with it,” complained Breitbart in one tweet. “IF a GOP possesses 1/100 of human failings of T. Kennedy he/she is TOAST,” he claimed in another. “In this moment I cant but recognize absolute backwardness of media & society. Bush=EVIL. Ted Kennedy=SAINT. Im gonna keep fighin’, folks,” Breitbart said in another tweet.
That said, yes, there's too many of these videotapes coming out. Clearly ACORN needs to set more rigid policies and guidelines. But at this point that's already clear, and I don't understand why this is still news (disclaimer: it's only news on certain sites affiliated with the pro-GOP mindset).

How much bankroll is really needed to do this? Sounds like something almost anybody could do on a shoestring. Distribution is free nowadays, after all.

They've clearly traveled all around the country and took time off work (if they had any). You must have very expensive shoestrings.

Definitely less than $10,000 total. It's funny that you're making an issue of who is funding this.
It's a masterful hit job that basically only required imagination. Don't hate.

How many students have $10,000 to blow?
It's funny that you call $10,000 to a pair of students to be a "shoestring budget".
My point is we can virtually guarantee this wasn't two students spontaneously deciding to travel all around the country and try to get ACORN employees to do and say incriminating things. This is what people like Darius were contending. It's simply nonsensical.

Yeah yeah, I'll consider the source here, but guess what, that doesn't change the story. It was not a single incident, or even two. It's systematic and it needs to be fixed, despite the source.
And Teddy was an overprivledged ass and just because he died doesn't change that fact.
But yes, I would have shown a bit more tact, even if he didn't deserve it.
