  • Anyone live in Vancouver?

A rather mad Englishman I know from another forum is cycling around the world. He has already crossed Europe and Asia and has recently made it from Purdue Bay to Fairbanks and will shortly be heading for Vancouver. He is hoping to find a floor / similar to sleep on. Anyone interested.

    Anyone live in Vancouver?
Sure. Lots of people. That's why it's considered a city and not a ghost town.

Had he done it a few years ago he could have stayed at Joncha's place.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

I doubt the guy is that mad.

I am, but I'm about 500 miles north now. I haven't lived in Vancouver since April of 2005.

Hmm, if he's riding down the coast he'll be going through PG. Only one road from Prince Rupert to Vancouver.

His map for that leg of the journey doesn't seem very practical. Maybe he's taking the ferry from Rupert to Port Hardy. Apparently the new one is very nice, and probably won't sink. That's what I'd do, because what kind of idiot would go to Prince George?

The same type of mad man who picks to bike through Canada on his bike around the world. If you don't have to bike over water he should be going through Panama.

Depends on whether he wants to do the Cassiar. That's a very desolate area.

He is. The second leg of his journey is: "Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Tierra Del Fuego, Argentina."

I have concerns thoough. His third leg is: "South Africa to Home" [England, via Cairo and Damascus]. Several years ago, I contemplated driving around the world (because I don't own a bicycle). I did some research on the Capetown to Cairo road. There is one, but using an off-road vehicle is highly recommended. Good luck on using the bike.

I went to high school in Terrace, but currently live in Victoria.

If I remember correctly the Cassiar ends up on the eastern side of the mountains. I guess the Cariboo wouldn't be that bad, as long as it's not winter.

Yeah, Dease Lake is where the divide is. He'd cross over twice, once at Teslin in the Yukon, and then again at Dease Lake.

Really, by the time he gets to Watson Lake, it's probably easier for him to go to Fort Nelson and then down through the Pine.
