I have zero sympathy for punks. I had some punk walk into my dorm room while I was sleeping and stole my laptop. I had another punk wait for my landlady to leave and attempt to bust the window down with a crowbar. When I was staying in a motel for work, I had my room trashed, stuff stolen, and the window forced open.

Would I grudge an elderly man defending himself and his home? No.

It's not the policy to not scale them either. Whether they were negligent in not training employees to refrain from it may be a debatable issue, but it wouldn't help the owner in any event.

How do you know that? If it's in the policy, then the employee did not follow instructions set out for his own safety.

From what I can see, the employee was not injured, warning shot was fired, issue settled. What would you charge the homeowner? Unlawful discharge of a firearm?
