yeah, nice, but doesn't really works unless you have acces to the victims wires

Why on earth would they hang up on her? I would have been pissed if 9-1-1 had hung up on me when I got broken into by a punk with a crowbar.

Why didn't you just go primeval on his ass? Shoot, double leg takedown, ground and pound!

The taste of blood splattering from his face into your open mouth as you screamed in primordial rage would have been so sweet.

It's not like a crowbar is a gun.

Didn't get a chance. He didn't see me there so I scared the crap outta him and he ran like hell.

Picked up the crowbar, and called the cops.

Cops came about 5 mins later with dog team but the guy had ran away.

its a sad state of affairs when the few people we actually rely on for help in this world doesn't act professionally.

I didn't know it was possible for 911 dispatchers to hang up on the callee. I know it's impossible in at least some jurisdictions.

If she used the F word before he answered, how'd he know she used it?
I get that she started saying that just as he was picking up, and by the time he picked up, she was in mid sentence.

On a more serious note it is good that he ran. Many break ins have the potential to turn into deadly situations. I am glad you were not harmed.

****, this ****ing behavior of the dispatcher could have cost the live of the girls father, if it had been a life threatening condition like for example an anaphylactic shock or a heart attack.
He didn´t even bother to ask her about the details of the emergency.

I want to know why both the girl and the father weren't tased. Clearly, they presented a danger to the public.

That story is nothing. How about this:

Fired Detroit 911 operator who dismissed boy's pleas back on job

Detroit -- The 911 operator who treated a 5-year-old's call about his dying mother as a prank is back on the job.

Sharon Nichols reported to work Wednesday as a Detroit Police emergency dispatcher, after an arbitrator ruled the city wrongfully fired her for failing to send an ambulance to the home of Robert Turner, whose mother, Sherrill Turner, had collapsed from a heart condition on Feb. 20, 2006.

By the time police arrived at the west side apartment hours later, Sherrill Turner was dead of complications from an enlarged heart. The case drew national attention.

Former Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings first suspended Nichols, but later fired her. That decision was reversed last month, although Nichols did not report to work until Wednesday, Detroit Police spokesman John Roach said.

Nichols will not receive any back pay or benefits, although she will retain her four years' seniority, the arbitrator ruled.

Nichols, 47, is on restricted duty and only listens to 911 calls, Roach said. On Monday, she'll begin several weeks of retraining and monitoring, he said.

"If she completes all the requirements of the retraining, she'll go back to being a regular 911 operator," Roach said.

A jury last year convicted Nichols of willful neglect, a misdemeanor. She was sentenced to one year's probation and 100 hours of community service.

The Turner family is suing Nichols for gross negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The case, which is before Wayne Circuit Judge John Murphy, is pending. No trial date has been set.

Attorney James Harrington, who is representing the Turner family in the negligence lawsuit, questioned the decision to allow Nichols to return to her job.

"I don't think it's a good idea to hire someone back after they were convicted of neglecting their duties," Harrington said. "As a citizen of Detroit, would you want that person working again as an emergency service operator?"

Nichols' attorney in the lawsuit, Wilson Copeland, declined comment, citing the pending case.

Robert Turner first called 911 at 5:59 p.m. and told Nichols, "My mom has passed out."

According to the 911 audiotape, Nichols responded, "I'm gonna send the police to your house and find out what's going on with you."

She then hung up after promising the boy she would send an ambulance to his apartment. She never did.

A second 911 operator berated the boy when he called back, and sent officers to berate the boy. They found her body.
