            It depends on the state. In Florida the max is $300 a week. I believe the maximum is in Massachusetts, and is around $370 a week.

              If that's what they claimed, then yes.

                  I don't think $370/wk is the highest maximum. Here's Rhode Island, which just raised their maximum for a single worker with no dependents to $546 a week. With 5 or more dependents the max is $682 a week.

                      But it was all leprechaun gold. It was wealth that vanished in the harsh light of reality.

                        US = socialists

                        546$ a week - why would you bother to work? it's more than 2k$ a month...

                        btw 52£ a week in UK is minimum, but this is what most get...

                          Previously you only could collect for x number of months. Now it seems to have become a permenant dole that will be used to create political pressure to keep those that extended it in office forever.

                            As far as I know, it has been tradition to extend benefits during a recession. Not sure when the tradition was started, but it certainly predates the current recession.

                            I don't have a problem with it, so long as the extended benefits are removed in a timely fashion after a recession has eased.

                              In the past it was just a short extension but still eventually ran out. Now it seems different, more permenant.

                                I don't know how you would judge. This recession is more severe than the last two recessions, so a fuller extension would be warranted here.
