  • "I watch Fox News to get my information"

In October, 2004 Bunning told reporters "Let me explain something: I don't watch the national news, and I don't read the paper. I haven't done that for the last six weeks. I watch Fox News to get my information."
-Jim Bunning, Republican Senator from Kentucky (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Bunning)

I just stumbled over that. That would be frightening enough if it was just a normal American. Fox news has a decidedly unnerving bend.

    You really think so?

It can't be worse than the prime news source for most Danes which is Danmarks Radio/TV2. Talk about an unnerving bend.

Or do you just pick up on networks with a conservative basis for news reporting?

DR/TV2 well, it could be worse: reading Politiken.

See the funny thing about media is how it can spin everything the direction it wants to go. Maybe there was more to that line than what was quoted. Maybe they erased a part of it. Never know do you?

And also, when does Fox go after the liberal media? They are on the defensive.

Fox news is fair and balanced unlike your bolshevik Danish propaganda.

By way of background, this was when Bunning was running off the rails -- not quite right in the head.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Fox News is actually to the left of most americans.

                  ABCBSNBCNN

are all even further to the left, which is why the 'left of centre' fox news is considered to be right wing.

                  It's all about perspective.

Just because Fox News is left of you, doesn't make them left of center.

Also note that for "six weeks" prior to "October 2004" there was a rather heated political campaign going on in the U.S. Might have something to do with his choice of avoiding the er.. entrenched reporting that was dominating the media outlets in question at that particular time.

But of course, a bit of proper context always confuses things..

Actually, I'd say I'm pretty much in the middle for most americans.

Does not compute. What does he think Fox News covers?

We already knew that because A) He got all of his information from Fox and B) He has an "R" next to his name.
