Not true. With gay marriage, they will be able to insure more people, thus making more profits.

Those gays are uber expensive. Did you notice the way they dress??

        LIES!

        Premium (plural premiums or premia)

        ...

        Usage notes

Premia is much less common than premiums, accounting for less than 1% of total usage in US (COCA) and 4% in UK (BNC).

No it doesn't; it lists premiums as a plural, not necessarily the exclusive plural. Just because some words adopted from latin have been bastardized more frequently by the lay elements of some populations than others, that doesn't rule out the original.

Fine, then feel free to check out the far more familiar medium-media, millenium-millenia, bacterium-bacteria, paramecium-paramecia, consortium-consortia, stadium-stadia, aquarium-aquaria, colloquium-colloquia, etc. etc. etc. on more "reliable" dictionary sites. Noticing a pattern at all?

I'm aware of the Latin pattern; it just has become incorrect in English for certain words.

                  Says you.

"Incorrect" and "far less frequent among the lay public" are two totally different things. For example lawyers, and to a lesser extent people involved in high finance, would read, hear, and use "premia" less rarely than would the folks at your local bowling alley. It's all a matter of perspective.

For example, the lay public almost universally misuses the phrase "begging the question," but that doesn't mean someone who knows its actual meaning using it would be "incorrect."

Oh and I forgot to mention that you can feel free to google "risk premia" in quotes, and be dazzled by the over 150,000 hits, most of which are highly reputable, and the second of which (after wikipedia, which you apparently discount entirely) is an illuminating piece entitled "Risk Premia" by Stanford Professor Emeritus of Finance, Capital Asset Pricing Model pioneer, and Nobel Laureate William Forsyth Sharpe.

Or to use more lay terminology:

Schwarzenegger appears to be more pro-gay rights than Obama.

I don't think I would go that far with that.

Uh, what's wrong with the statement that he's a Kennedy? He's married to one. The politics are indistinguishable.

Who cares about the Wanking Panda Center? Seriously, that place has maybe 4 posters online most of the time so the forums are slow, slow, slow. Hardly anyone posts there.

Ben is right, married to a Kennedy does kind of get their politics rubbed off on you. I mean look at Bill, does anyone doubt that his wife wasn't telling him how to run the White House?
