    So...

I finish exams in 5 days. I graduate on 1st of July. I've spent the past 3 nights in the bar.

I've only started to drink beer since after New Years Eve.

I'm fond of Black Sheep Ale, I like the woodsmoked flavour, and the slight bitterness. I'm not sure of what else to drink but in my college bar (that's about 20 metres from my room) also stocks Newkie Brown, but I've never tried it, and there are the other 20 pubs and 15 college bars to try out.

Lager side, I've only this past week tried out Kroneberg (sp?) '64 and Carlsberg. The former I quite like, decent starting drink or drink for the midweek, but nothing to get drunk on IMO. The latter does if there is nothing else to drink...Anyone got any good advice for standard lagers? I should probably state I'm kinda into Bud nowadays after trying it at my grandfathers Bday; 5% and tastes of very little, awesome to get drunk off so I can get onto the whiskey asap.

Also: Anyone threadjacking this onto spirits will get shot. There are two topics that shall never get threadjacked: football and beer. Threadjacking onto anything else, and I'll let Lori check out his sexuality on you.

I'm rather fond of a 95% solution of ethyl alcohol.

          Bud? That's not beer, it's beer-flavored water

I didn't start drinking properly until my 18th birthday (I didn't like the taste). Since then I've drunk mostly spirits, and snakebite & black (and bottles of mead at formals).

I actually have the reputation for being an alcoholic for some reason.

It's just beer that it took me a while to get the hang of. My dad didn't start drinking more than half a pint until he was 30. My mother OTOH...eh, that side of the family is full of alcoholics, so I suppose that's where I get it from.

Yah. It gets you just pished enough to appreciate the flavours of whiskey.

An appropriate analogy would be Klatchian coffee IMO.

If you want good lager, try schwarzbier

I didn't start drinking until I was late in my 22nd year.

I just drank liquor for a while, then moved on to wine and now am expanding the number of beers that are decent. I still hate the standard American beers though and most others.

I drank quite heavily for 2-3 years and had friends concerned.

I had never drunk until my first year at university, but I went from zero to daily binge drinking. Lucky me I didn't become all-out alcoholic, but otoh my memory has suffered severely; a bit of a shame in hindsight, but I've had good fun

My suggestions would be Chimay Bleue, Rochefort °10 and Westmalle (double and triple) if you can get hold of any of these around there. I'm sorry these are Belgian beers, bars just don't sell that much strong ales from other countries here. Apart from the specialized bars of course..

And for good measure: if ye prefer something softer/sweeter in taste yet still with a powerful character then Triple Karmeliet or Delirium Tremens might be worth checking out.

My memory was already bad. Maybe it has gotten worse.

I did have a few drinks tonight, I was at ~4 drinks per month for several years though. Currently I have increased it to hang out with people, am at ~4 drinks per week. It is still liqour though, it might be better to be beer.

My current favorite beer is Longboard, brewed by Kona.
