Who needs to land? We can paradrop IFV and personel (inside the IFVs), as well as cargo from much faster IL's. As for take-off, who needs that? When you can plan an assault and make your heavy planes to deliver cargo, IFV and soldiers from remote airfields faster than this 500kmph vertybird joke can do. As fo extraction, excuse me, but I just can't imagine US military using this kind of aircraft to evacuate soldiers from the combat zone. They will still use choppers for that. So the Time is right it's a completely inadequate aircraft. A huge waste of money.

I assume both landing and take-off of such aircraft requires more time and is a much more complicated manoeuvre than a landing and take-off of a standard helicopter. Thus it is a much better target for enemies.
