I think your assessment is skewed by your dislike of his politics

I've never seen Ben lie about anything in our extensive debates on religion. And he's not dogmatic, I've seen him change his mind given proper evidence.

There's definitely a bullying aspect to this that is unsavory. And the alpha males seem to have decided that there's no such thing as an honest mistake. Then it goes to what I will call "deduced lies" -- drawing unintended conclusions from the "liar's" post.
strawmen, they're common... It could be dishonest, but it could be a mistake, or an attempt to clarify, or narrow down an opponent's position by eliminating invalid but potential interpretations. If we apply that standard to everyone we'll all be painted as liars.

case in point - Spence didn't say every argument is a strawman

Not everybody needs to be forced. But a surprising number of people manage to hide their fundamental dishonesty even from themselves.

Written, stored communications make that harder.

I have this habit of, in real life, knowing that everything I say is already true. It is embarrassing to be proved factually wrong in an argument.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Then how come you're wrong so often online?

I've never been to Talladega but I'd guess that the infield would be a excellent source of high-risk specimens.

Based on my two trips during college (over a decade ago), excellent is an understatement. NB: no interest in racing is necessary; I went solely for the mind-boggling spectacle of humanity that gathers there.

                        Fixed.
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

                        • 1. I really don't grok what is being talked about. Kitty...is this stuff that I just pass by? Who's Ben and why are people mad at him?

                          2. Asher does have a tendancy to the tit for tat and definitional arguments. He can be pretty fun on gay and computer trolling though.

                          • I'm not explaining all the forum drama to you.

                            You've missed:

                            1) A mod being permabanned
                            2) Ownership/control of the site changing hands
                            3) OT modship being changed
                            4) My successful rebellion against the new owner
                            5) Permabanned mod and others starting a new site
                            6) Invasion of said site
                            7) My thread about ******'s and ****-******'s baby (an effort to continue forum drama)
                            8) Glonkie and Drake being banned for beating up on somebody

                            • I saw most of that. That was cool and all. But is Ben = Ned? And isn't he one of the boring people on Apolyton?
