1. What is the purpose of the OTF forum

The obvious: To hold discussions on subjects other than Civ. --especially current events, politics, philosophy, religion, and history.

2. How should we deal with personal attacks, flames, etc.

Usually start with a gentle warning: "Attack the post, not the poster." Then a not-so-gentle warning: "Chill." Then a vacation. --Although it depends upon the situation and the poster's past transgressions.

3. How should we deal with thread jacking

Not a biggie. Sometimes a thread-jacked conversation is more interesting that the original. And the posters can always go back to the original conversation if they wish.

4. How should we deal with user-spam (not commercial spam)

Your discretion. If you find it really annoying and/or stupid, delete it. But remember, sometimes it is good to be frivolous.

5. Is there anything in these forums you miss? What kinda debates / topics aren't possible here but would be good for the OTF, what can we do to bring them here?

I miss the posters showing how intelligent and insightful there are. Poly used to be a really stimulating place to hang out. Now, although many of the old posters remain, most people here just post insults. They're like a bunch of giggling junior high schoolers. I know they can do better because they used to do so regularly. I don't even mind being insulted if it can be done with flair, intelligence and style.

6. Are there reasons for you to post or not post in this forum

Reason to post: This has been my cyber-home for years.
Reason not to post: Paucity of intelligent posts.

7. Do you like the idea of a 'closed threads' forum, or do you prefer to keep closed threads in the forum, or do you prefer them to be deleted completely?

Delete them completely. If they were bad enough to close, they do not deserve to exists.

8. What can in general be done to make the OTF a better place

Firmer enforcement of the rules. Your rules here are reasonable and necessary. Don't be afraid to make sure they're followed. It makes the forum a better place to be.

9. What should remain to keep the OTF a good place?

Change your name back to CyberShy.
Oh yes: Find werefox and drag her back her. Some people desparately need a werefox dancing on their heads.
