  • Bataan Death March Over

    I just defended my thesis.

Still have to work out the whole "job" thing though.

    Hey, not funny.

There are some survivors from that Bataan Death March.

Do you really want to make light of those Asian failures who couldn't get the job done?

( Congrats! Good luck job hunting! )

Letters after your name means that the measure of suffering is scaled in inexplicable ways. Known fact.

          You got your PhD? Congrats!

I think you started several years after me.

I am searching for a job right now too... but still have a couple of months before I defend.

              Congrats broken knee:

I thought the Ph.D. was a big lark and beat working. Had an outside scholarship, a working gf, and money from reserves. Actually (no ****) milked it for an extra year when they said I could leave at 2.5.

That said, I got an eezy sleazy chem degree. And did caveman synthesis beationg on rocks.

                  No, just my Masters.

I switched programs several months ago (a few weeks before the economy crashed, as it happens). I realized that want to be involved in public policy (but still nonlinear dynamics), and that spending another couple years studying pattern formation in mantle convection is probably not the most straightforward path to get there.

I'm still working out what that path would be, though.

                  And thanks, guys.
