It does make more sense if you call if "Apolyton Civilization Site" but thats not the url name, so thats not what you have to burn into their mind, its Apolyton.
I forgot to mention in my reply yesterday something which ties into one of your recommendations about holding other top-level domains to increase the site's exposure: we already have that, and have for some time.

The majority of those domains are .net, and here they are (save non-gaming title ones). Unless otherwise noted, they go the Poly homepage:

      - calltopower.net
      - calltopower2.net
      - civilization2.net
      - civilization3.net
      - civilization4.net (goes to CivIV section here directly)
      - civrev.net
      - galciv.net
      - galciv1.net
      - galciv2.net (goes to GalCivII section here directly)
      - moo3.net

We would have a SMAC one as well if it was available (but isn't now and hasn't been).

      • Did you buy civilization3.net from SidGames?

Edit: Actually I think we had civilizationiii.net

        • Ok, so just following up, Oerdin, Im sorry your having these problems, just sharing the site has been very well technically since the upgrade.

Is their a specific time you have these occurences?

Im not a technical guru, just sharing maybe we could work together to pinpoint they cause?

Next, despite personal issues between folks, I have learned much in the OG about various games.

I have learned much in the technical threads, many problems I have had, Asher, Snoopy369, Solver to name but a few have so willingly jumped in.

If we could all write down our grievances, then ball them up, walk up to a trash can, drop them in and then, someone, walk to the front of the room, state new day.

The first one to attack goes home, and so forth.

          Or

We all just work to get along.

W-O-R-K, a verb...not a single evnt but an ongoing process.

          What do you folks think?

Me and many others want this to work.

Some have shared with me in private, they are sick of this, and I am sorry about that. This should be fun, Axeman, leave the grinding for another location seriously lets come, have some fun, tell some jokes, share some thoughts, speak on a topic, agree to disagree but do so in a respectful manner.

          Im far from giving up.

I hope and yes I pray, many other too feel the same way.

Just curious, does anyone here play any of the game we host?

How about does anyone here play any of the Other Games we interact with?

How about a recent trip you may have taken, pictures maybe a humourous story?

Maybe you work around the world, geologist, sales rep, maybe your a student studying a not so know field, would be great to learn from that!

I enjoy ZKRibbler and Lancer speaking about Phillipines, man, sound awesome, I can identify a bit when they talk about trying to find this and that, not having it, it was very similiar when I took two mission trips to Honduras, you never know when you will find supplies! (or if you will!)

So much to talk about without having constant bickering, so much to have fun with in gaming!

It is of course still in development, but I think it's good. Being the designer, I may of course be a little biased... Only way to be sure is to try it out yourself, as a couple thousand other people have (in case numbers matter to you).

              • As opposed to all the awesome high quality games released by "professional" studios?

Anyway, I have no interest in continuing your troll. Fact: due to EA's disinterest in SMAC, Planetfall is the closest thing you're ever gonna get to a SMAC2. Play that, or shut up.

A mod should never finish development though.

What's really sad is that I had no idea what planetfall was when I first responded to your post about it. But I've learned that when people really push games I've never heard of it's generally because they're intimately involved in the development of those games.

So that first post really was a question. Which you've answered fully now.

                    • It is unfortunate if I come across as "pushing the game".

I like designing. I don't like, and have no interest in, marketing or getting a huge anonymous fanbase. (Though I admit it would make me somewhat happy if the old ACDGers started playing Planetfall )

But I sometimes when people say "Oh, how I wished for a SMAC2" yet haven't tried Planetfall. And multiple times people have said "What an awesome mod - I wish I had discovered it earlier." That clearly means better marketing and name recognition would bring more people to the mod.

So I figured I'd make a mention of it. Do with it what you wish. *shrug*

Well I made a CivII mod (never released it) that I like and play, including a few basic graphic changes. I doubt I can do much to CivIV that couldn't be done better by someone else, but I still can contribute my game experience to the people who post there.

What I have wanted to do for a long time was make a Poly Fighter game kind of like Street Fighter II, where posters can battle each other with their own characters online. If we hacked the new SFIV game to cherrypick attacks and insert player skins it would be awesome.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

                              • I think having a "hard to remember" site name helps. Who knows how many Murgs have been screened out due to this situation?
