So they benefit from the system and thus are unlikely to really cause too much of a fuss
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
Two points: one: no one said communism was about living like monks with vows of poverty.
Two: who said they weren't using the money to help the cause or put it into various charities.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
Well, if you know someone is making good money, it usually is fairly obvious, such as the clothes they wear or the place they live (unless you ask them outright!).

Che...I'm practically serious. Change it from a street based liberal revolution to a good old style Southern lynching and I will put the bankers and Republicans and Democrats in the nooses. Nothing like a little murder to concentrate the mind...of these ****s.

Nobody said anything about living like monks, but there's obviously a difference between a house and an apartment, between a Benz and a Honda, between the Gap and Target, between Oakleys and Raybans, etc. I fail to see how a communist exhibiting the former of any such choice is anything but a hypocrite, pure and simple.
Communism isn't about being poor as a matter of principle. In fact it is, amongst other things, about supporting the aspirations of ordinary working people to want to be rich. However, communism opposes a system it believes to be incapable of generating a large enough cake for all to have enough, and seeks to find a way to rationally build a larger and more stable cake than under the chaos of capitalism.

Dammit! In all the years I've been a commie, I've never been able to put it as succinctly as that.

Hang on a minute. I thought that communists generally recognized that capitalism makes a helluva big cake, but divides it poorly. So the claim is that communism will not only distribute the cake properly, it will make a bigger cake? That's quite a claim.
