If it is plugged in,and if the connection did fall in the water, and if they did get toasted, would we really lament the loss? I think not.

^ Oh, hey, that's the guy who draws the "xkcd" comic!

It's cool to see he's a fun guy outside the comic too.

actually that image has a mistake.
The check says e^i*pi which is -1 , so the check is for the sum of 0.0002

which means the image itself is a FAIL.

Why did he bother with the "0.002 plus" bit?

It only bumps the result up from X.XX1 to X.XX3, which still is not enough to round up a cent.

                            Looks like e^2*pi to me....

                              It's meant to be (0.002 + e)^2*pi.

That math still doesn't work out.

I'm of the suspicion that the explanation below the check is wrong. I think Randall Patrick Monroe intended to make out the check for exactly 2/10ths of a cent.

If Sirotnikov's reading is right (and I think "i*pi" makes more sense than "2*pi") then it looks like the math comes out to:

0.002 plus (negative 1) plus (something that tends towards 1).

Or, 0.002 minus 1, plus 1. Equals 0.002, which is exactly what Sirotnikov said.

                                Anybody else get this result?
