That was more than a little disturbing to me.

I saw something on the news when I was 13 or 14 about scarfing and how it was pretty common in the public schools in my area for middle school, but not high school. Hearing about it made me sick. Then I talked to my catholic school friends about it and very few of them knew what I was talking about. We were so sheltered back then.
