Ken Starr has been involved in filing a suit to force the divorce of some 18,000 gay and lesbian couples in California. In response to this bigoted anti-family threat, gay and lesbian couples have been sending out photos and videos of themselves to people who are willing to listen to their stories about love, compassion, and commitment.
      Good.

Nice to see someone standing up for the people of California.

One man filing a lawsuit = democracy?

Ordering happily married couples to nullify their marriage and commitment to eachother = standing up for the people of California. You are an evil bastard.

In Ben's world, litigation = democracy.

BTW, the UofC students union voted to strip the pro-life club from its club status and funding.

In the minds of conservatives, democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner.

To liberals, democracy is two sheep and a wolf voting on dinner.

Communists point out that in the liberal scenario, the wolf still has the ultimate power, and argues that the sheep need guns.

The people of CA voted against that crap. They did it anyways. The people voted against it again.

You can't polish a turd Asher. If it really had the support of the people you wouldn't need to shove it down their throats.

BTW, the UofC students union voted to strip the pro-life club from its club status and funding.
Since when is a student union a democracy? The equivalent to a state-wide referendum would be a school referendum. Unions suck. They are as undemocratic as they get. Students would be way better off without student unions sucking up their fees.

At least that will get overturned when the student union gets sued for violating the charter of rights and freedoms.

Uhhhh, Ben...these people got married before people voted. Your timelines are all ****ed up.

Oh, Ben, you are so ****ing stupid.

I think it's clear you never even went to a university.

The UofC students union is actually a student government. There hold annual elections.

And I assure you, the vast majority of the UofC student base (certainly in excess of 80%) are more than happy to strip this club of its funding and club status. It's overwhelmingly being supported by the student base.

These club members are astonishingly confrontational, graphic, disrespectful, and immature. They're breaking school policy and SU policy. Either by direct referendum or via actions by SU's elected representatives, this club has lost its club status and funding.

                    So I say to you -- democracy is a *****, isn't it?

And for ultimate irony, it is the pro-life group that is threatening to go whining to the court system activist judges -- an action YOU support. You ****ing hypocrit.

No, they didn't. They had one referendum that was 60-40 against, before the courts went ahead and did it anyways. Then the people rejected it again. They've voted against it twice.

How many times do they have to vote no before their vote counts?

I think it's clear you never even went to a university.

Yes, and how does that counter my point that the equivalent to a state-wide referendum would be a school referendum?

Student unions, like any representatives have a duty to represent the student body, not the administration. That they would support the administration against the students who pay their fees, is grounds to turf all of them in the next student election. It's akin to the players association turfing their leadership.

Ben, you need to look up what a DEMOCRACY is.

A democracy does not need to be defined as a government that is 100% determined by referendum, you stupid ****ing spineless slimey ****.

Again, the SU is supporting the interests of the students here. The students ****ing hate that pro-life group, and it's been a hot-button issue for years. The students want to see the group gone, the students don't want to pay for the group's funding, and the students union -- which represents the interests of the students -- are following suit.

The pro-life group are not the only students that attend the school. Let's have some fun with your hamfisted, retarded logic:
That politicians would support the Christian-right's morale crusade against the gays who pay their taxes, is grounds to turf all of them in the next election.

All the other clubs are funded, and treated equally. You can't just hate on a club because you disagree with what they do.

I will guarantee that when the issue is freedom of speech and equality that the student union would lose. They've lost on this issue every time it has been tried. Nobody likes bullies, especially not when they are the ones paying their salaries.

Costs time and money, and it's a waste of time. It's an overwhelming consensus on campus.

If people want, they can run for office next year on the platform of restoring funding to the pro-life group. This is a democracy, they can do that.

                                They won't get elected, though.

All the other clubs are funded, and treated equally. You can't just hate on a club because you disagree with what they do.
That's not what's happening, you mental midget.

All clubs ARE to be treated equally. Just like how the GAY clubs had to alter their signage in the name of public decency, the PRO LIFE club was asked to do the same thing. The university even made a concession and let them KEEP their offensive, graphic signage so long as they arranged the display such that only people who wanted to see it did. While the GAY club played ball, the PRO LIFE club thumbed their noses to the students union AND the university administration -- even when faced with direct and explicit warnings for the consequences. Their dumbfounded, victim act right now is just amusing to virtually the entire student body. Poor, poor Pro-Life group breaking policies knowingly and with ample warning, then getting punished for it.

The playing field is level here, Ben. All of the groups have to play by the same rules. The Pro-Life group thinks they're special, but they're not. They're the ones asking for an exception.

I will guarantee that when the issue is freedom of speech and equality that the student union would lose.
Your guarantees mean nothing. You are never, ever right.

Remember your "Star Chambers" thing? Where you guaranteed that Macleans would lose the HRC trial about hate literature? And I told you I'd doubt it? And in the end, Macleans won? This is the same ****.

You've no concept of public fairness or equity, you've no concept of what is right or wrong. You are blinded by your Christian bloodlust and epic stupidity, you don't have a solid grasp on reality.

They've lost on this issue every time it has been tried.
Cite it or shut the **** up.

                                Nobody likes bullies
That's precisely why the pro-life group is in trouble. They've emotionally assaulted passersbys for years with their offensive and graphic displays then broke university policies to do it. That defines a bully to me.
