This thread is making me want to buy Civ4.

      No... disposable... money...

Civ IV is better than a shove in the eye with a sharp stick. Bts is MUCH better than a shove in the eye with a sharp stick.

I just started playing Vanilla, and it's really great -- even better than Civ2, imho. I'm going to pick up BtS one of these days, though, since everyone says that's even better.

^ Sad to say, Civ III was so bad it put me off trying anything that Firaxis did. I had honestly started to feel that maybe BHG and Brian Reynolds had taken the best of the brains with them.

Yeah, III turned me off also, but I kept my head down, continued playing II and prayed for something better in IV.

                  Fortunately my prayers were answered.

CivIII... so flawed. And yet I enjoyed it. I like Civ IV a LOT more, mind you. Getting rid of the "corruption" model in favor of maintainence was a huge, huge improvement.

Civ3 was far less flawed than Civ2, mind.

Civ IV should be banned as a narcotic substance. I have wasted months of my unemployment playing this damn game, thinking about it when I'm away from home or when I just wake up. I just won a game yesterday, finally. And I still want to play again. I need to learn some new skills, clean my house, take a shower, eat, but no, Civ IV just sits on my brain like a spider. :addict:

And I think I'd have my ass kicked in MP.

Considering I played 1000's of games of CIV II and could barely stomach less than a dozen games of III, I'll totally disagree with that statement. But having futily argued this in the past, I'll just say we'll agree to disagree.

heh... haven't played MP since Civ II, or actually CTP days... but played Civ III quite a bit, than IV, and now BTS (since it came out) ...and BTS is GREAT... Civ III was flawed, but I still liked it, but not enough to keep on playing more than I wanted to... with BTS... yes... time... real life... ehhh...

but having a 9 yo daughter now who is interested and playing together helps me feel that I am not exactly wasting time so much anymore
