As far as the topic of virtual interfaces, there is tactile feedback on the Instinct's touchscreen. It's by no means perfect, but it does make for a much less awkward experience than other touchscreens.

So can we talk about W7 again?
I installed the beta (ultimate 64bit) myself, now (thanks for the heading, chronos). I skipped on Vista. It´s neat. Using it right now. The installation took quite a while - a bit longer than XPpro, i´d say, even if you take into account, that it made any additional driver installation unnesseccary. Worked pretty well right from the first boot-up, which is btw, pretty quick. Not as quick as my personalized XPProLight, but still a lot quicker than XP uncut.
The graphics i find quite amazing sometimes (again: skipped Vista). Though i dont know how to stack the windows is this 3D-fashion yet (like seeing them from a different angle). How does that work? Some features are really useful - like the enhanced right-click-context-menus. If i close this window, in order to return to this site, i just have to right-click the IE-icon and pic this site from the context menu directly. Nice.
Tested FallOut3 so far and seems to work stable. So do the ATI-drivers (CCC) for Vista 64-bit it seems (had to install those, since my glitchy graphics adapter needs to be downclocked in order not to crash).
Of course there is still a lot to iron out. Error messages for example are even funnier than usual MS-messages in this beta. In just an afternoon i thought at least twice ´OMGWTF?!´:
- On first try, i didnt have a partition ready for install, so i quit. The message appearing was something along the lines of: ´Do you really want to quit? For this installation to be completed, you need to complete the installation.´
- Then a bit later, i was prompted to choose my language. I chose ´german´ (and this is the german version, alledgely). Next thing appearing on my screen in big, fancy letters is: ´Setup is starting...´ (and, no, that´s not german).
But yeah okay, beta and stuff, sure. In general, i like it. Cant compare it to Vista, but i will probably switch to it from XP once it´s released (and will use it for DX10 in 3D games as long as i legally can right now - for testing purposes of course).
Some system specs: AMD 3700+ (single core!), ATI 3850 (512), 2 GB.

YAY - cool ! Thx, Asher !
Well, for XP, i made a personalized setup-disc, and used that the last couple of times. With that it took about an hour or so (with all drivers being on the disc already) + SPacks. Hence I actually may be fooled by that in remembering how long it took for the original to install. But to me, the W7-install seemed to take very long (and the progress bars are were not very consistent - stuck on 0% for like 10 min during extraction phase and then went on with maybe 1% every 10-15 secs or whatnot, which may have contributed to the rather long ´felt duration´).

As you have demonstrated, there's an insane amount of disinformation and baseless claims about Vista."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Another thing that might be causing folks to think Vista is slow: it has an annoying tendency to use up one whole core on Disk Defragmentation while I am doing things.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

I think Windows 7 crippled Xbox Live downloads also. It took me an hour to download the 500MB Fable II expansion.."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
