What's this? GePap justifying the use of cluster munitions against the pining call of the Norwegian Peace Dove?

It's not like B-52s can carry "six bombs total"
B-52s aren't the only kind of attack aircraft. Explain to me how you're going to fit extra bombs on an F-16 after you've used up all the available hard points.

There are also smart bombs to use, you don't need to have cluster munitions to be guided bombs...
Conventional PGMs are expensive and kill fewer targets than a cluster bomb does. A cluster bomb is obviously the best choice for attacking a large formation of enemy soldiers/vehicles.

We should ban them for the bad countries, but leave them for the good countries.

          6 CBU-105 = $360,000 * 6 = $2.16 million

          Mk 84: $5700-7600
          GBU-15: $274,000

          6 × CBU-105 = 8 GBU-15

Which is more cost effective, Ashie?

I like how you keep moving the target.

I don't know about mount points but if the military or its contractors are too stupid to figure out how to add additional mount points for physically smaller munitions, they don't deserve the power to drop bombs in the first place.

Clearly the GBU-15, unless you're being facetious?

BTW: I like how the "production cost" is significantly lower than the "acquisition cost" -- this illustrates how incompetent the military is in their purchasing.

6 ×CBU-105 kills dozens of tanks
                  8 × GBU-15 kills maybe 6 tanks, 8 if you're lucky

Since when are B-52s considered "attack" aircraft?

Unless they're being used as gunships like the AC-130, or tank-killers like the AH-64 or the A-10?

I've yet to see this actually substantiated. You'll notice both you, Patty, and Drake all have avoided backing up the assertion that 6 of those killed dozens of tanks.

"Production cost" for a GM car is probably around $2000. "Production cost" does not include amortization of production equipment or development cost.

It amuses the heck out of me to see a bunch of people who know absolutely nothing about the military, cluster bombs, tactics, etc. have such a heated argument about the matter, pretending they can google some numbers up and use that as 'evidence'...

As far as I know, there are precisely two people who have any actual knowledge of the subject who have posted in here. I'll stick with those peoples' opinions until someone knowledgeable posts on the subject...

Asher is right. We should just go out and collect some ore and pump out Predators from our war factory!

There's no one in this thread who has designed or dropped cluster bombs.

Pretend that because one is or was in the military and understands the issue in detail is a fallacy, especially when said person was in the Navy and not an aviator.
